We have exceeded our target each month in the program and in the fourth month of the six month program we are still growing exponentially. The most valuable part for us are the conversations with Business Coach Vwodek Wojczynski who has provided highly relevant coaching and support. Even though I did not fully participate in the internship program, I learnt how to improve my communication skills especially the listening part (commenting on what the other person says). I have also learnt that being inquisitive (asking questions about what people mention during a conversation) is a good way to obtain information and to establish a sense of trust between communicators as the other person knows you’re paying attention and thus they’d be more encouraged to share more information with you knowing that they’ll be heard!

I got trained in communication skills, relationship aspects, coping with stress, and few business aspects and while it’s hard to quantify the impact I have gained or put it in definite measures, I believe that improvements in the communication skills were the most important for me.

Participating in the internship program challenged me to think differently about the way people operate within a business. It allowed me to realize the importance of values, vision and mission and what they mean in defining and sustaining a successful organization.

I have been trained in clearing, a technique that include active listening and recreation of a conversation in order to develop an accord with another individual. I have also been trained in process engineering & reengineering which includes identifying the processes step by step a business uses and then working with them to improve upon them. I have learned to survey business owners and provide them with valuable insight and information on how they run their organizations. In general I have been trained to be open minded and that is a skill that will stay with me for the rest of my life.

Learning how to actively listen and be with others where they are at that moment has improved the relationships with my friends and family by allowing me to engage in meaningful conversations that have long term healing effects. In my professional life I have been able to upgrade my career to a new and exciting position working as a Building Science Specialist for and Internal Engineering Firm. This position will allow me to travel and participate in cutting edge building construction practice experiences that I would not have been able to engage in previously.

At the beginning of the program I had two goals, one was to improve my communication abilities and create better career opportunities for myself. Participating in the RSC Business Group Internship Program has allowed me to accomplish that and much more.
